Anantapur: Reiterating that welfare schemes have taken backseat in the Chandrababu Naidu government, YSR Congress President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that village secretariats would be set up to expedite the work and decentralization of administration which works beyond party and regional affiliations.

During an interaction section with women groups where people have poured out their woes to the Leader of Opposition who is on the mass contact programme, Praja Sankalpa Yatra here today, he was told that they were not getting pensions, ration cards and other welfare measures.

Assuring them that their plight will be addressed to in short time in the coming days and the Chandrababu Naidu government has lost credibility by going back on poll promises and taking anti-people measures, he said, all sections of people were unhappy with the governance.

‘With all your blessings, when our government comes to power, we will set up village secretariats and appoint locals who would function without any hassles and all welfare schemes, besides certificates, ration cards, pensions, Aarogyasri, fees reimbursement and such facilities would be provided within 72 hours of applying for and there would no room for any affiliations, political or social,’ he said.

Old age pension would be increased to Rs 2,000, differently abled people will get Rs 3,000 pension and we will implement Navaratnas which will benefit all sections of society and every one would be happy, he said.

There was good response to the Yatra with women and old people waiting for him and tell him their plight. He gave a patient ear to them who said that they were not getting pensions and ration cards and no reason was assigned for it and have been passing through hard times.

He consoled them and said that good times are ahead and the present government has been insensitive to people’s issues.
