Kurnool: District Collector S Satyanarayana has instructed the officials concerned to take necessary steps for the smooth conduct of the MLC by-election that would be held on January 12, 2018.

The Collector along with District Superintendent of Police (SP) Gopinath Jetty and Joint Collector Prasanna Venkatesh participated in a review meeting on the arrangements being made for MLC by-election at the conference hall here on Monday. Addressing the officials, the District Collector said everyone should follow the model code of conduct.

He stated that polling stations would be setup at Kurnool, Adoni and Nandyal, besides a counting centre at the Town Model High School in Kurnool. Furthermore, he advised the police officials to identify the problematic areas and take necessary action by deploying adequate police force. The Collector said that the Joint Collector would be receiving nominations after the announcement of notification on Tuesday.

He advised the officials to beef up security with a DSP rank official at the entrance of the Collectorate and Returning Officer’s chamber. The entire proceedings of the nomination process should be video recorded, he added. The SP said that he would take care of the sensitive areas by deploying additional cops. “We have ordered everyone to surrender their licensed weapons,” he added. RDOs Hussain Saheb, Ramsundar Reddy and Obulesu, DSPs and other officials were present.
