Farmers stage rasta roko for Minimum Support Price

Nandikotkur: Demanding Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their produce, farmers on Monday staged a rasta roko at Patel Junction on KG Road affecting movement of vehicular traffic on the Kurnool-Guntur road. Former MLC Silpa Chakrapani Reddy and YSRCP district leaders lent their support to the farmers’ demonstration in support of their demands.

The farmers allege step-motherly treatment by the state government in spite of they work hard day and night and raise crops borrowing money from others. The farmer is being regarded as a beggar not as a backbone to the country, farmers lament. The farmers were forced to hit roads in support of their demands, but the government chose not to respond on farmers’ issues, they said describing it as the most painful.

Though there is water available all around Nandikotkur, but it is of no use to the farmer. A large number of farmers took part in the demonstration. Farmers associations’ leaders Ravi, Aluvala Balaiah and others took part in the agitation.
