Kadapa: Kamalapuram MLA P Ravindranath Reddy has temporarily withdrawn the decision of launching a hunger strike which was proposed on Monday, following the assurance given by Collector T Baburao Naidu over release of water to Sarvarayasagar Reservoir from December 25.

It may be recalled that the Kamalapuram MLA had launched 3-day padayatra from December 15 with the demand of releasing water to Sarvarayasagar for farm operations in his constituency. He concluded his padayatra on Monday and submitted a memorandum to the Collector. After meeting the Collector in his chamber, the MLA secured an assurance from the state government over the issue.

Later, speaking to the media, Ravindranath Reddy said that the district administration had failed twice to keep its promise related to water release for agriculture operations in his constituency due to political reasons.

After Collector detailing him the reasons including positive report given by technical expert committee related to the release of water, the MLA exuded confidence of water will be released to Sarvarayasagar this time and temporarily withdrawn his decision to sit on fast. He thanked the Collector for taking initiative in solving the problem of farmers.
