Amaravati: The insufficient network of banking system in rural villages remained as a big problem, said Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar at a review meeting with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) officials at the Secretariat here on Tuesday.

Dinesh Kumar maintained that the banking system should be strengthened in the rural areas to provide institutional finance services to the rural population. He observed that due to insufficient banks in the rural areas, the villagers tend to invest in private organisations and thereby they face problems.

He also suggested to the RBI officials to take action against fraudulent chit fund companies. The Chief Secretary requested the bankers to create awareness among the people that they should not get cheated by going through the fake advertisements in newspapers, TV channels, theatres and others.
