Expelled from hostel, engg student ends life
Yet another suicide by an engineering student of Narayana Engineering College came to light on Tuesday. A second year engineering student of the college, M Lakshmi Sai (21), committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan at his friend’s room three days ago.

He reportedly committed suicide due to alleged pressure exerted by the management of the college and for sending him out of the hostel. According to the sources, Lakshmi Sai, native of Gundavolu village in Rapur mandal, was studying second year B.Tech in Narayana Engineering College at Gudur. He was the only son to M Bhaskar Raju who is working as a contractor in Anantapur district. Lakshmi Sai was staying in the hostel attached to the engineering college.
He vacated the hostel on December 14 and had stayed at SKM boys’ hostel up to December 16. On the evening of December 16, he visited his friend’s room at Mayabazaar. His friend is studying in another private engineering college at Gudur. Lakshmi Sai asked his friend Manoj to hand over the room keys as Manoj was planning to visit his home. Before leaving, Manoj handed over the keys to Lakshmi Sai. But he failed to respond to the phone call when Manoj tried to contact him.
Manoj along with his friends visited the room on Tuesday and found that Lakshmi Sai had committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan at the room. He immediately informed Gudur 1-Town Police and they rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Gudur Area Hospital for post-mortem. Student union leaders staged a protest in front of Narayana Engineering College raising slogans against the management.
