Pithapuram: The engine of a goods train transporting coal from Visakhapatnam to Vijayawada got separated from the rest of the bogies near Madhapuram railway gate on Tuesday.
According to Railway authorities, the locomotive pilot realisingthat the link between the engine and the rest of the bogies got severed, reduced the speed of the train and informed to the authorities.
Another engine, which was readily available at Pithapuram Railway station, was pressed into service. On account of the incident, East Coast, Janma Bhoomi and Simhadri expresses were late by two hours.
