Kurnool: Remains of humans were unearthed at the excavation site of Chennampalli Fort in Thuggali mandal under Pathikonda Assembly constituency on Tuesday.

Excavation for gold, diamonds and other valuables is being carried out at the 13th century dilapidated Chennampalli Fort by the government officials for the past one week.

The excavation is being carried though Chennampalli villagers opposed it. YSR Congress Party leaders also opposed the excavation and demanded stoppage of the work immediately. The government officials continued with the digging amid tight security.

During the last five days, nothing was found at the site. But on the sixth day (on Monday), some remains were found.

Some bricks and round-shaped articles were also unearthed at the site. The government officials gave instructions for carrying out the digging. But the YSR Congress Party leaders forced them to stop work. They also represented to the district collector to reveal the reasons behind the excavation.

The district collector himself was present at the site on Tuesday. On his orders, the work continued till evening on Tuesday. It is learnt that the work, which was stopped temporarily on Tuesday, is likely to continue from Wednesday.
