South Central Railway employees take out energy conservation rally
The South Central Railway, Vijayawada division, took out a rally on energy conservation from DRM Office compound to parcel office here on Tuesday.
Vijayawada: The South Central Railway, Vijayawada division, took out a rally on energy conservation from DRM Office compound to parcel office here on Tuesday. R Dhananjayulu, divisional railway manager, MVS Rama Raju, additional divisional railway manager, along with officers, staff, scouts and guides and railway schoolchildren participated in the rally.
Later, DRM R Dhanajayulu inaugurated exhibition of energy conservation equipment at Vijayawada Railway Station. Speaking on the occasion, DRM said the division is making all out efforts to reduce the conventional energy consumption. “Recently, Vinod Kumar Yadav, general manager, South Central Railway, commissioned a solar tree of capacity 5KWP in electric traction training centre at Satyanarayanapuram in the city.
Solar water heaters have been commissioned at hot water using vital locations like running rooms, crew rest rooms, TTE rest rooms, retiring rooms, railway hospitals to reducing power consumption of 15.20 lakh units per year.
No conventional geyser is available in any railway building. Out of 161 stations in the division, 103 stations have already been converted into 100 per cent LED light stations, saving 10.66 lakh units of energy worth Rs 84.04 lakh per annum while remaining 58 stations are also planned for completion by March 2018 so that entire division will be 100 per cent LED light stations.
Similarly, work is also in progress to convert all the lights in service buildings and staff quarters with 100 per cent LED by March 2018. The Vijayawada station which is already 100 per cent LED is being converted into 100 per cent energy efficient by provision of fans and inverter type AC units, DRM said.
Railway officials Shafali, P Chaitanya, N Varaprasad, GVS Raju, AP Siva Chander, D Krishna Murthy, Satyanarayana Reddy, SR Gandhi, JVRK Rajasekhar other branch officers and staff were present.
