Kandukur: The Kandukur police arrested a thief and his aide for involving in various thefts and robbing the SP cadre officer at Andhra Pradesh Police Academy and manhandling her two years ago.

According to Kandukur CI K Narasimharao, the police arrested Shaik Khajavali of Naidupet and his aide Shaik Sultan Vali of Kandukur on Tuesday. Khajavali is used to sell fruits in Chirala and rob the train passengers.

On September 9, 2015, Khajavali boarded Secunderabad to Gudur, Simhapuri Express at Chirala and attacked SM Ratna, an SP cadre officer at APPA near Kandukur, and relieved her of gold chain, bangles, rings and cash.

Police identified that Khaja was involved in the theft of a trolley bag with gold and silver ornaments belonging to a woman passenger of Simhapuri Express in November 2016.

They also found that Khaja and Sultan were involved in house breaking at Ulavapadu Reserve Colony and made away with gold jewellery and cash in May 2017.

The CI said that the teams under the guidance of Ponnalur and Lingasamudram SIs arrested the thieves on Tuesday and recovered gold ornaments weighing 32.5 sovereigns, including the ornaments of SM Ratna.
