Three major parks in the city - Kalasagiri, Mudasarlova and VUDA Park are being readied for a makeover under Andhra Pradesh Disaster Recovery Project (APDRP). Visakhapatnam: Three major parks in the city - Kalasagiri, Mudasarlova and VUDA Park are being readied for a makeover under Andhra Pradesh Disaster Recovery Project (APDRP). The Viskhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) would develop the three parks with an approximate fund of Rs 131 crore granted by the World Bank.

In order to match the image of Smart City, the VUDA Park on the Beach Road, which witnesses most number of footfalls, will be transformed with setting up of modern facilities under the supervision of VUDA and GVMC. It is learnt that the tenders for Rs 12 crore would be called soon.

The much neglected Mudasarlova Park has finally managed to get the attention of authorities for its development. Mudasarlova which has water body in 70 acres and 80 acres of sprawling space would be developed into a world-class park.

Of the 80 acres land, nearly 40 acres is filled with variety of trees. So, the authorities are planning development in such a way that trees would not be uprooted. According to sources, the park would get a facelift at a cost of Rs 15 crore budget. There are plans to grow mango trees stretch in eight acres and make it a special picnic spot.

Another main park in the City of Destiny, Kailasagiri Hills, which attracts the tourists from all walks of life across the country and foreign lands, is set for a sea change. It is learnt that VUDA has been chalking out plans to build 120-metre high Sky Tower at the scenic Kailasagiri at a cost of Rs 84 crore. Apart from this, another Rs 20 crore of World Bank fund would be used for making the Kailasagiri more beautiful.
