Vijayawada: The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Vice-Chairman and Managing Director N Bangara Raju on Thursday said the State government will host competitions in athletics and cricket matches for Civil Service Officers including IAS, IPS and IFS across India for 2017-18 from January 18 to February 3.

Speaking to media at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation stadium, Bangara Raju said about 40 teams in cricket and 1,914 athletes are expected to participate in the prestigious events.

He said that the competitions in athletics would be held at Acharya Nagarjuna University from January 18 to 20 and cricket matches would be conducted at ACA playground at Mulapadu, Siddhartha Medical College and Andhra Loyola College from January 27 to February 3.

Senior civil servants including IAS, IPS and IFS officers would take part in the event, he added. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu would inaugurate the tournament on January 26 at Mulapadu. He said that the State government has set up a three-member organising committee under the chairmanship of GAD principal secretary.
