Visakhapatnam: After MPs of Congress, TDP, YSRC and Left parties opposed the proposed disinvestment of Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) in Parliament, the employees of DCI resorted to a three-day indefinite strike here on Wednesday.

Extending their support to protesting DCI employees, other unions of several Public Sector Undertakings, too, demanded that the Central government rollback its privatisation decision.

In this context, all the unions took out a rally from Visakhapatnam Railway Station to GVMC Gandhi statue. Later, at a public gathering, CITU state president Ch Narsinga Rao noted that DCI, with its headquarters in Visakhapatnam, stood at 5th position in the world rankings in terms of offering effective services to ports.
