Amaravati: Indo UK Institute of Health (IUIH) with an investment of Rs 1,7600 crores in India, announced that the development work of the second of its 11 Medicities to come up in 11 Indian states at Amaravati, the new state capital of Andhra Pradesh, is slated to begin soon as IUIH is scheduled to get possession of allotted land from Andhra Pradesh government anytime now. It is being built in association with King’s College Hospital, London, with an investment outlay of Rs 1600 crores.

The 250-bed hospital, phase 1 of the plan, shall be operational by 2020. By 2022, we intend to have the NHS branded 1,000-bed King’s College Hospital as well as the medical college up and running in Amaravati.”Besides this, IUIH Medicity Amaravati shall be the headquarters for all 11 IUIH Medicities in India.

The Clinical Support Services Zone will have centres for diagnostic imaging, pharmacy, pathology laboratories, medical supplies, blood bank. etc., The Medical and Technology Zone will accommodate medical device and equipment manufacturers, pharmaceutical production and healthcare technology companies including IT service providers.

The Research & Development Zone will incubate healthcare start-ups and have centres for big data analytics as well as medical supplies development. The Commercial Zone will have a hospital hotel to facilitate patients and those accompanying them, nursery, wellness centre, retail area, etc., The Administration Zone, besides the office area, will have house transport facilities and a helipad for air ambulance.
