Tirupati: Mother and infant will be healthy if they intake nutritious food, observed Dalmia Garima Ladies Club Chairperson Roshini Bajaj here on Wednesday. Addressing an awareness programme on nutritious food for mothers and children at Chinnakomerla village, she stated that mothers in rural areas were adopting a negligent attitude towards nutritious food because of their preoccupation with work.

‘This affects their health’, Bajaj stated. The awareness programme was organised as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). She advised pregnant women and infants to take nutritious food for maintaining good health. Addressing the gathering, Dr Harshvardhan of Vaddirala Primary Health Centre said the Janani Suraksha Yojana provides not only free-tests for pregnant women, but also free vaccination after delivery and payment of cash.

He suggested every woman should have deliveries only in hospitals. During the event, 175 women underwent free hemoglobin and HIV tests and were given iron tonic, besides calcium D and vitamin B complex tablets. Dalmia CSR head Rajasekhar Raju said the programme was organised to create awareness about the importance of pregnant women for having nutritious food.

Dalia men’s wing head Brahmayya, Dalmia CSR programme officers Srinivasulu, Gurudevi, Rajesh Kumar, Gurappa, government officials, several pregnant women and nursing mothers were present.
