Joint collector reviews voter lists preparation

Srikakulam: Prepare accurate voter lists for peaceful elections in 2019, joint collector KVN Chakradhara Babu directed revenue officials. He reviewed the preparation of voter lists at polling station level with revenue divisional officers (RDOs) and tahasildars at the Collectorate here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, he provided guidelines in preparation of voter lists.

He asked the officers not to yield political pressures in preparing lists which will lead to unrest in the ensuing general elections, he warned. The Joint Collector recalled that due to irregularities in voter lists in previous elections all revenue officials received show-cause notices from the Election Commission.

He urged officers not to repeat such mistakes in forthcoming elections. Election observers will verify voter lists at village-level and micro- level by keeping it in mind and prepare lists as early as possible and final lists will be announced on January 26, 2018, Joint Collector explained.

District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) project director Dr GC Kishore Kumar, Srikakulam and Tekkali RDOs Balivada Dayanidhi and M Venkateswara Rao, municipal health officer Davala Bhaskara Rao and a representative from Srikakulam Corporation and tahsildars were present.
