Kurnool: The excavation to unearth the hidden treasures lying beneath the dilapidated Chennampalle Fort has continued even on the eighth day of Wednesday. The news of unearthing hidden treasures has gone viral and is making rounds on social media. The Chennampalle village, situated on the remote corner of the Kurnool district, is now drawing attention from scores of people across the nation.

The villagers of Chennampalle are anxiously waiting for the last 7 days to know what will be unearthed. If any treasure is found, then the State government would give a share of 33 per cent to the Chennampalle village. The hope of getting an unexpected share is not letting the villagers to have a peaceful sleep.

The Police department has also deployed a huge contingent of policemen to guard the site to prevent the entry of unauthorised persons into the fort. During the excavation, some human remains, and round shaped articles were found on Tuesday and on the eighth day of Wednesday, two tusks were also traced.

When asked about the purpose of excavation at the deserted fort with the Adoni RDO Obulesu, he first thrashed the rumours of hidden treasures making rounds on social media. He further said the excavation is being carried out for valuable minerals hidden beneath the fort. Several CCTV cameras have been installed at the excavation site and the digging is also taking place in a transparent manner.

The RDO said that there is nothing secret and the excavations would continue for another two more days. If any treasure is unearthed, then the entire stock would be handed over to the government amid tight security, he added. District Collector will take final call on continuing excavation for some more time, the RDO said.
