Amaravati: Minister for Water Resources Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao alleged that Congress MP KVP Ramachandra Rao and YSR Congress MP YV Subba Reddy were making baseless allegations against the government in a bid to stop the progress of Polavaram Project.

Speaking to reporters here on Friday, the Minister said the leaders who had ignored the project during the Congress rule were now creating hurdles to the project by raising doubts in Parliament.

“KVP Ramachandra Rao has no moral right to speak about Polavaram Project. The Congress government did not take any steps for completion of the project,” he said.

He also said the YSR Congress party leaders were provoking the neighboring States by posing questions in Parliament as part of conspiracy to obstruct the project. “Y S Jaganmohan Reddy obstructed the Polavaram works during the Congress stint by threatening contractors,” he said.

The Minister said the State government is committed to completing the project works by the end of 2018 and do justice to affected people of Polavaram Project. He said the government was implementing better relief and rehabilitation package for smooth execution of project.
