Nellore: Chillakur and Manubolu police nabbed two chain snatchers and recovered 29 savaras of gold worth Rs 6 lakh and a motorcycle from them. The accused were identified as D Parthipan and M Kumar of Tamil Nadu.

According to Gudur DSP VS Rambabu, Parthipan and Kumar who were basically from Tamil Nadu and settled in Naidupet and Gudur areas, had committed many chain snatchings in Chillakur and in Manubolu mandals.

The accused used to target lonely women and old women who travel alone and steal their ornaments. The duo had robbed gold chains from many women who sleep in front of their houses in Chillakur and in Manubolu mandals, said the DSP. Keeping a tab on the accused Chillakur and Manubolu police held them on the National Highway-16 at Audi Sankara College close to Gudur, he added.

DSP said that Chillakur police recovered 4 gold chains and gold ornaments and Manubolu police also recovered 4 gold chains from them. Gudur Rural CI Akkeswar Rao, Chillakur SI K Srinivasa Rao and Manubolu SI P Srinivas Reddy were present.
