Kurnool: Collector S Sathyanarayana directed the officials of municipal corporation to speed up the ongoing developmental works undertaken by the corporation.

He accompanied with Municipal Corporation Commissioner CB Harinath Reddy made a whirlwind tour from Krishna Nagar to Doctor’s Colony and inspected the status of works on Friday. Speaking to media, the collector said the construction of underground railway bridge at Krishna Nagar is being carried out in two phases.

Under first phase, works would be carried out from Krishna Nagar underground Railway Bridge to ITC circle and from Birla gate to Krishna Nagar Railway Bridge with the government funds of Rs 4 crore. He said works worth Rs 70 lakh undertaken up by the Municipal Corporation such as laying of footpaths, construction of drains and road widening were in various stages of construction.

The collector said 2.3 acres park at Doctor’s Colony is also being constructed with a cost of Rs 52 lakh. Out of the total amount, Rs 37 lakh would be utilised for developing park and the remaining amount of Rs 15 lakh would be utilised for fixing of high mast lights. A road is also being laid from Nandyal road to Dinnadevara Padu village. He directed the concerned officials to expedite the works without compromising in quality.

After the whirlwind tour, Sathyanarayana held a meeting with officials at his camp office and asked them to create all sorts of facilities at IIIT College being constructed at Jagannadha Gattu. So far, we have allocated 151 acres of land to the IIIT College but there is another requirement of 38 acres.

He directed the IIIT College, Divisional Engineer Mukunda Reddy to prepare and send the proposals. Municipal Commissioner CB Harinath Reddy was assigned to prepare proposals for arranging drinking water facilities, prepare proposals for laying of roads and construction of compound walls.

In-charge Divisional Revenue Officer Sasi Devi, Revenue Division Officer Hussain Saheb, Rural Water Scheme Superintending Engineer Hari Babu, District Panchayat Officer Parvathi, Corporation Superintending Engineer Siva Rami Reddy, Executive Engineer Ramana Murthy and Assistant City Planner Sastry Shabnam participated.
