The Assembly constituencies like Mylavaram, Nandigama, Jaggaiahpet and Tiruvuru come under the purview of west Krishna. Most of the area is dry and lands are not suitable for cultivation of commercial crops. Several areas in the western side of Krishna river are facing water scarcity.
The geological conditions of the area are totally different from eastern part of Krishna district which has fertile lands and abundant water sources, including ground water. In this backdrop, western Krishna is being treated as an undeveloped area so far. The situation seems that it remains as thing of the past. The state government has proposed three bridges at Ibrahimpatnam, Damuluru and Kanchikacherla. The reservoir will be constructed at Damuluru and it may become a major tourist hub.
Speaking to The Hans India here on Friday, former Ibrahimpatnam Mandal Parishad president N Venkateshwara Rao said that the proposed projects would provide employment to the youth in the local area. He said that the State government should also encourage industrialists and businessmen to take up more projects innovatively.
The proposed bridges would provide road connectivity from west Krishna to the capital city of Amaravati he said and added that the area was situated just opposite to the capital city on the other side of Krishna River.
On the other hand, the Tourism Department is also making plans to construct cottages near Kondapalli fort. The Secretary of the Tourism Department recently announced that special trips would be arranged to visit Kondapalli fort.
The artisans would get benefit from the proposed developments to sell their toys, said U Suryaprakasa Rao, president of Kondapalli Toys and Artisans Society. Already the tourists from various areas usually visit their shops from various parts of the country, he said.
