Tirupati: Andhra Bank Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Suresh N Patel has made it clear that the bank is willing to provide credit to any number of women to overcome poverty and to lead dignified life in the family.

Interacting with women auto rickshaw drivers for whom the bank has financed to buy vehicles at Rashtriya Seva Samithi (RASS) office here on Friday, he said the women autorickshaw drivers have set an example to other women in the rest of the country.

By taking strangers in autorickshaws to various places these women were showing their courage, he said and added the women were prompt in repaying instalments as they have total financial discipline while spending income.

He asked RASS to identify 10-12 repair centres in and around the city, so that women auto drivers can service their vehicles financed by Andhra Bank.

RASS general secretary G Munirathnam said though there were 30,000 plus auto rickshaws in Tirupati, many people now were preferring to ride by RASS women auto rickshaws only. In the very short time, they have earned such a distinction with their dedication and discipline, he said and thanked bank MD for sanctioning loans to SHG members of RASS to become auto rickshaw owners.

Andhra Bank general manager V Krishna Murthy, DGM Ganapathi Rao, AGM Murali Krishna, RASS executive director S Venkataratnam, project directors Dr Mohan and V Nagaraj participated.
