The Rose Society of Andhra Pradesh in association with Harita Priya Plant Lovers’ Society and Vijayawada Municipal Corporation are conducting the national rose show. The potted flower plants, cactus, fruit and vegetable plants, bonsai plants, miniature garden, cut flowers and medicinal plants are being showcased in the mega event.

Roses from Kadiyam, Bengaluru and other places were brought to Vijayawada to put up in the show. The flower and tree lovers thronged the show. Technical seminars and cultural programmes were conducted by organisers.

The entry point was decorated with rose flowers while biggest flower bouquet was put at the arrival point to welcome the visitors. As many as 498 varieties of flowers were displayed in the rose show. The Rose Society of Andhra Pradesh also set up exclusive stall, along with other stalls.

The Andhra Pradesh Urban Greening and Beautification Corporation set up one stall by displaying different flowers and saplings. Several exclusive plants like highly oxygen productive and nakshatra plants were showcased in the stall. Corporation zonal manager V Rama Rao speaking to The Hans India said the benefit of nurturing saplings is also being explained in the exhibition.

Kadiyam-based Sri Siva Surya Nursery displayed bear apple, sweet lemon, star fruit and lemon grass. Mosquito menace can be avoided from nurturing lemon grass, said Chikkala Srinivas who is representative of the stall. He said that 30 varieties were being displayed in the stall.

Students of different colleges in the city took part in rangoli competition with flowers. They exhibited their flower rangoli with different themes with inspiring massages like unity in diversity, evil effects of internet and vote for better India.

Meanwhile, Krishna district horticulture department is also displaying their roof top vegetable cultivation products. The organic manure, soil, water sprayers and different vegetable seeds are available in their stall, said horticulture officer J Jyothi.

Black brothers’ cynosure of all eyes: The bull pair name black brothers have become the cynosure of all eyes at the expo. TANA former president Dr Gorrepati Navaneeta Krishna is the owner of the bulls and he is a native of Ghantasala village in Krishna district. It is learnt that bulls acted in Pawan Kalyan’s film ‘Katamarayudu’.

However, Mahila Commission Chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari also took part in the event. She congratulated Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for releasing Rs 10 lakh for the event.
