Nellore: Gudur police arrested Circle Inspector of Guntur Central Crime Station (CCS) Kakarla Sesha Rao and his family members on Saturday for collecting huge amounts from local people and for cheating them. The accused used to promise gullible people to provide lands in Amaravati at cheaper rates. They also assure to help to recommend their names for Padma awards.

According to Gudur police, a woman, Lakshmi Prasanna and her husband, Sesha Rao working as CI of CCS at Guntur cheated Ramanaiah of Gudur and collected Rs. 4 crore from him.
The woman started friendship with Ramanaiah through Facebook; developed intimacy as a family friend and they cheated him.

Based on the complaint of the victim, Rayapaneni Ramanaiah Naidu of Gudur, One Town police held the Circle Inspector Kakarla Sesha Rao, his second wife Prasanna Lakshmi, daughter-in-law Mounika, father-in-law Guravaiah and son Hari Krishna in Guntur on Saturday.

Gudur Town Circle Inspector TV Subba Rao has said Ramanaih belongs to Vadlapudi village in Manubolu mandal and resides at Society Colony in Gudur. He is engaged in aqua business and also donates funds for charity activities.

Observing his postings on the Facebook, Prasanna Lakshmi started friendship with Ramanaiah from 2014 appreciating his philanthropist activities. She informed that her husband is a CI in Guntur CCS and he can help him if he wants to buy lands in Guntur area at cheaper rate.

Ramanaiah initially gave Rs 1.50 crore to buy lands and subsequently paid around Rs 2 crore during various occasions when the CI promised him to make as the member of Central Warehousing Corporation. The CI took him also to Delhi saying he was having good contacts in Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Police official said the CI also collected Rs 50 lakhs from a local doctor who was close to Ramanaiah promising him to get the coveted Padmasri award. Both wife and husband kept quite whenever victim demands pay back the money as the promises were proved to be false. The couple threatened him to kill when he demanded them to pay back him the money. Ramanaiah finally lodged a complaint with Gudur One Town police and police arrested CI and his family members on Saturday.
