3-member Uttar Pradesh gang busted, booty worth 12 lakh seized

Vijayawada: The Governorpet police arrested a three-member Uttar Pradesh gang and recovered gold and silver articles worth of Rs 12 lakh from their possession on Sunday. The accused have been identified as Khalid 45, Sabeer, 26 and his brother Sonu Nayeem, 24, all hail from Hapur area of UP.

Producing the gang members before media at Governorpet police station, South Zone ACP K Srinivasa Rao said the gang along with 15 other culprits from Uttar Pradesh have robbed gold, silver articles and cash from the houses under the police station limits of Kothapeta, Suryaraopet, Machavaram, Krishna Lanka and Ibrahimpatnam in Vijayawada in the past few months.

They were taken into custody when they were moving in suspicious circumstances near in Hanumanpet under Governorpet police station limits. Gold articles weighing 400 grams, silver articles weighing 100 grams were recovered from them. The value of seized articles is Rs 12 lakh. Nearly 20 expert robbers occasionally come to Vijayawada from Hapur, Ghaziabad of UP and return to their native places after completing their target.

The gang members always keep some tools used in plumbing work and display them whenever they are questioned. Earlier also they were arrested on several occasions in Uttar Pradesh on charges of house breakings and released them later.
