40 held for betting on illegal cockfight
The police have started their raids on the cock-fighting dens in various places of West Godavari district to save their skin from the High Court directives and arrested the cockfight organisers and gamblers under various sections in the jurisdiction of different police station limits. In the raids the police arrested 40 persons indulged in cockfights.

In Dwaraka Tirumala mandal, the police conducted raids in various villages and arrested 24 persons. They raided P Kannapuram, Pangidigudem, Jajulakunta and Sayannapalem villages and seized knives and six cocks in the raids.
Meanwhile, in Chintalapudi mandal, police raided villages including Kovvurugudem village and took four people into their custody and seized Rs 11,500 cash and three motorbikes. In Bhattuvarigudem of Chintalapudi mandal, the police arrested six persons who indulged in the cockfight and seized two cocks and Rs 2,500.
In Eluru, the Two-town SI K Ramarao conducted raid on cockfight den near Adivarapupeta area and arrested two persons and seized Rs 300 cash and four roosters. In another incident, Eluru 3-town SI A Pydibabu and his personnel conducted raid when the gamblers involved in cockfight in agriculture fields of Satrampadu village near Eluru. They arrested four persons, seized three roosters and a knife and Rs 2,300 cash.
