Vijayawada: Gannavaram MLA Dr Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan on Sunday inaugurated the 40th Senior Nationals Throwball championship for men and women at Vikas Group of Educational Institutions, Nunna near Vijayawada.

As many as 23 teams from across the state are participating in the four-day championship. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Vamsi said that capital Vijayawada is became main centre for national-level sports events and several prestigious tournaments are conducted in recent months.

He said for the first time senior national throwball championships are organised in Nunna, which is under Gannavaram Assembly constituency, he added.

He further said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is focusing on sports and games and allotted more funds for the development of sports facilities in the state. Later, MLA Vamsi interacted with players and praised Chaganti Sivathmika Reddy, who is representing Telangana state as she hails from Nunna village.

Throwball Association advisor M Satyanarayana Raju, president T Murali Krishnam Raju, secretary Eda Sulochana, Vikas group of institutions chairman N Narsi Reddy, participated.
