Kurnool: A 32-year-old housewife committed suicide by setting her ablaze at her house when she was alone. The incident took place at Lakshmipeta in Yemmiganoor town on Sunday. The woman was identified as Susheela, mother of three children.

According to Sub Inspector K Hari Prasad of Yemmignoor police station, the woman was a resident of Lakshmipeta and was working as a staff nurse at Santosh Nursing Home in Yemmiganoor. She was suffering from unbearable headache for quite some time.

Despite several medications, she could not get relief, he stated. Unable to bear the headache, she thought of ending her life. She closeted herself in the house and set herself on fire after immolating with kerosene. Her family members were not at home at the time. On hearing her screams, the neighbours came to her aid and intimated to family members.

The woman was first shifted to Yemmiganoor Area Hospital where she was given primary treatment. Later, she was rushed to Kurnool General Hospital for better treatment. She received 70 per cent burns. Her condition is said to be critical.

`We have recorded her statement and took up investigation. The victim said that there were no family disputes. Her headache forced her to commit suicide,’ said the Sub Inspector, Hari Prasad.
