Keep city clean, TMC Chief urges people

Tirupati: Tirupati Municipal Corporation Commissioner C Harikiran has appealed to the people to cooperate with the authorities to take the City to the first place in Swachh Sarvekshan rankings of 2018. The City stood at 9th place in last year rankings and for 2018, the contest is going on.

People should help in making the city as ‘Clean Tirupati’ so that it will earn nation-wide recognition, he said. Commissioner requested the people to use e-toilets, community toilets and public toilets in the city and make it as open defecation free (ODF).

`Every household and shop keeper should segregate garbage as wet and dry garbage and keep the surroundings clean by not throwing the waste on to the streets. Wet garbage has to be dumped in the green dustbin and dry waste in blue bin, which are to be handed over to the sanitary staff of the corporation,’ he said.

Plastic covers are already banned and they should not be used by anyone, the Commissioner said. All teachers of government and private schools and colleges should bring awareness among students on the importance of Swachh Sarvekshan and sanitation.
