11 cricket bookies held; 3,65 lakh seized
The Adoni police arrested 11 cricket bookies and seized an amount of Rs.3.65 lakhs besides 25 mobile phones and one LED Television. All the accused were brought before media in the presence of Adoni Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ankaveedu Prasad at Two Town police station here on Monday.
Kurnool : The Adoni police arrested 11 cricket bookies and seized an amount of Rs.3.65 lakhs besides 25 mobile phones and one LED Television. All the accused were brought before media in the presence of Adoni Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ankaveedu Prasad at Two Town police station here on Monday.
The DSP Prasad said, `We have received several complaints about the cricket betting from the people of Adoni. On a tip off, the CI Chandra Sekhar, SIs Sunil and Vijay and his team raided Srinivasulu building and apprehended five persons - Srinivasulu, Kallu Bavi Veeresh, Sabir, Hazrat Bilal and Nayum.
`We have seized Rs.95,000 and 6 mobile phones from their possession. On interrogating, we were informed about another betting going on at Raichur in Karnataka State. The police team raided the spot and arrested six persons - Raja Don, Abdul Salam, Raja, Narasimhulu Yadav, Pinjari Kasim and Vali Basha. We have seized Rs.2.70 lakhs besides 19 mobiles and an LED Television from their possession,’ said the DSP.
All the eleven accused were taken into custody. A case was framed on all the accused and they would be produced in the court. action. Circle Inspector, Chandra Sekhar, Sub Inspectors, Sunil and Vijay, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Anand, Head Constable, Elisha and other policepersonnel were also present.
