Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu prayed to Jesus Christ to bless the State to complete construction of Polavaram Project and capital Amaravati without any hurdles.

Participating in Christmas celebrations at Saint Paul’s Church here on Monday, he said the government acquired lands for capital construction with blessings of Jesus. Jesus Christ landed on earth for solving the problems of people, he said and added that the government should follow his path by implementing welfare schemes for poorer sections.

He said the Bible helps in finding solution to any problem. The time is being calculated in a traditional format from Jesus Christ’s entry on earth, he said and added that it shows the importance of the Jesus.

He said it is a wonder that God was born as a human being to solve problems. Naidu praised the Christian organisations for extending their services especially in education and health sector.

He recalled that Telugu Desam founder and former Chief Minister late N T Rama Rao, Ministers and some MLAs also studied in Christian educational institutions and asked the legislators to serve the society with same spirit.

Naidu pointed out that the State government has been releasing Rs 5 lakh for construction of churches and a building for Christians is being constructed at a cost of Rs 10 crore in Guntur city.

The Chief Minister also said the government would provide opportunities for Christian organisations in Amaravati by responding positively to the requests of Christian heads.

RCM Bishop T Raja Rao expressed happiness over Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu taking part in Christmas celebrations. He said that his organisation is running schools, colleges, hospitals and also participating in social service activities.

Mayor Koneru Sridhar, Water Resources Minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, MP Kesineni Srinivas, TDP whip in Legislative Council Budda Venkanna, MLA Gadde Rammohan Rao, several officials and corporators were also present.
