As the Panchayat elections are nearing, all major parties in the district are gearing up to bag the maximum number of seats at the crucial village level elections ahead of polls to municipalities Zillaparishad and mandal parishad territorial constituencies. 

Kadapa: As the Panchayat elections are nearing, all major parties in the district are gearing up to bag the maximum number of seats at the crucial village level elections ahead of polls to municipalities Zillaparishad and mandal parishad territorial constituencies.

Though the elections to panchayats are not held on party basis, it is known fact that the parties field strong candidates. Keen contest is expected between ruling TDP, and opposition YSR Congress. Parties like BJP, Congress, CPI and CPM try to prove their existence. Elections are proposed to be held for 790 panchayats in Kadapa district.

The ruling TDP is planning to take elections in Kadapa prestigiously as the opposition leader belongs to the district. TDP, during its “ Intintiki Telugu Desam’ programme, received a large number of representations from the public and trying to dispose of them during ‘Janmabhoomi –Mavuru’ programme schedule from Jan 2 to 11.

According to sources during the 10-day ‘Janmabhoomi –Mavuru programme, TDP is planning to highlight the newly introduced concept ‘Chandranna Kanuka’ which is meant to extend financial help to girls.

The party is also trying to involve all sections of the people especially women in large numbers with the help of self-help groups as women voters are more when compared to men in all most all panchayats in the district.

The Panchayat results indicate the prospects of political parties later in the polls to municipalities, ZPTCs, MPTcs and finally the 2019 general elections, said a senior politician to The Hans India.

“Our party win is inevitable as the people are happy with the welfare schemes introduced by the government,’ said TDP district president A Srinivasulu Reddy. `Where ever we go during the Intintiki TDP, we received good number of representations and they will be solved in the Janmabhooomi – Mavuru programme, he said.

The YSR Congress party, which is going to face the panchayats elections for the second time, considering them as ‘litmus test’ ahead of 2019 general elections. That party had held vigorous campaign in the name of Gadapa Gadapaku YSR Congress and Palle Nidra. ``We have secured spontaneous response from the public during ‘Palle Nidra ‘ as villagers voluntarily joining with us during the event as they were vexed with the ruling party in implementing the welfare schemes,“ said YSR Congress district incharge Akepati Amarnath Reddy.

Meanwhile the Congress party which has no specific plans to go into the public, contemplating to win by making adjustments locally. The BJP, which is having political alliance with the TDP, is willing to continue the alliance in panchayat polls. The police administration is busy in identifying sensitive and hyper sensitive villages in view of faction feuds in the district.
