Eluru: Poets and film lyricists visited Polavaram irrigation Project on Tuesday on the request of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.The team members and poets Jonnavittula Ramalingeswara Rao, Suddala Ashok Teja, Gurucharan, Gummadi Gopalakrishna, Rasaraju and others reached Polavaram on Tuesday afternoon and observed the ongoing works of Polavaram Project.

Later they went to the spillway area and examined the construction works. After visiting the works, they met the site engineers. The site engineers explained about the benefits of Polavaram Project and showed them the design map.

Later speaking to newsmen at the project site, Jonnavittula Ramalingeswara Rao said that the beauty of Polavaram Project impresses everybody who visited the site. He stated that River Godavari has been an inspiration to the poets always, and as and when they see the beauty of River Godavari, the poetry flows from the pen of the poets. He pointed out that the scenic beauty at the Polavaram Project site naturally inspires writers and poets to pen poems. The team members said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has requested them to visit the Polavaram project area and see the ongoing works.

They said that the Chief Minister also requested them to write songs highlighting the significance of Polavaram Project and the beauty of River Godavari. The songs will be recorded and used by the government during the campaign to educate people on the importance of Polavaram Project, they added. “We will write songs on the importance of the project besides the beauty of Godavari river in the hilly area of Polavaram. Those songs could be used for creating awareness among people on the multi-purpose project,” they added.
