Pithapuram: MLA SVS S Varma on Tuesday distributed helmets free of cost at an awareness programme conducted here by TDP activist Yeluri Suryanarayana. He complimented the activist, before handing over the headgear to a specially-abled person.
Speaking at the programme, Suryanarayana stated that he had written to Chief Minister to take up distribution of helmets as part of the ‘Chandranna Kavacham’ scheme, instead of handing over Rs 1 lakh to those killed in accidents. The MLA stated that he would take the issue to Naidu’s notice. Suryanarayana pointed out that most of the road accident victims were aged between 19 and 25 years.
