Five persons, including four 10th Class, were killed on the spot and three other students were injured when the auto rickshaw in which they were travelling, was hit by an APS RTC bus coming in the opposite direction at Repudi village  in Phirangipuram mandal of Guntur district on Thursday .

Guntur: Five persons, including four 10th Class, were killed on the spot and three other students were injured when the auto rickshaw in which they were travelling, was hit by an APS RTC bus coming in the opposite direction at Repudi village in Phirangipuram mandal of Guntur district on Thursday .

According to Narasaraopet DSP K Nageswara Rao, the students belong to a private school at Perecharla. They were going to school by an auto-rickshaw and boarded the auto at 7.30 am. When the ill fated auto rickshaw reached near Repudi village, an APS RTC bus collided with the auto at 7.50 am. The RTC bus was going to Srisailam.  

At the time of accident, the auto-rickshaw was carrying seven students. Five persons – four 10th Class students and the auto driver - died on the spot. The deceased were identified as Kanumarthi Gayatri (15), K Sailaja (15), A Renuka (14) Karithik Reddy (15) and auto driver Dhanraj.  Three students Vaishnavi, Bhanu and Shirisha were seriously injured in the accident and were admitted to a private hospital in Guntur for treatment.

Narasaraopet DSP K Nageswara Rao said, ``rash driving of the RTC bus driver led to the accident. We have booked a case and investigation is on.’ The Minister for Social Welfare Nakka Ananda Babu rushed to the hospital and inquired about the health condition of the injured students and instructed the doctors to give better treatment for their speedy recovery.  

Minister for Human Resource and Development Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Assembly Speaker Kodela Shiva Prasada Rao expressed shock over the accident.
