Eluru: Adivasis took out a rally in Jangareddigudem town in West Godavari district in protest against the inclusion of Boya, Valmiki castes in Scheduled Tribes (ST) list. Adivasis demanded that the government withdraw its resolution passed in the Assembly.

Adivasis reached Jangareddigudem from various areas of the agency mandals on Thursday following the call given by 28 Adivasi Associations.

They alleged that the erstwhile Congress government had included Lambadi, Erukala, Yanadi who were in the BC list in 1976 to ST list and damaged the opportunities of the real STs of Adivasis without the approval of Parliament.

They alleged that the Scheduled Area Acts, which were enacted for the safety and benefit of Adivasis, were extended to the plain area tribals like Erukala, Yanadi, and Lambadi’s. Those are getting the Adivasi lands, jobs and political posts.
