Tirupati: Graduates of D Pharmacy sat on relay fast here on Wednesday, demanding clinical pharmacist cadre and government jobs to them. They said, six-year D Pharmacy course was started in the country during 2008.

A total of 300 candidates have joined the course in 25 colleges and came out with degrees in 2014. But, as the government was not recognising their degrees, they could not extend medical services to the people.

The course was being offered now in 233 colleges across the country and 70 colleges in the state and students were spending lakhs of rupees to complete the course.

But, the government has not provided jobs eve for the first batch students, they said and added the government can utilise their services in rural health centres, drug information centres, drug deaddiction centres, poison information centres, etc.

Protesting the government attitude towards them, the D Pharmacy students will continue relay fast, said the Pharma D Association President Dr P Rajasekhar.
