2,050 coop societies to be computerised
Special Commissioner for Cooperative Societies J Murali said that the state government has decided to computerise all the 2050 cooperative societies in three phases within a year.
Eluru: Special Commissioner for Cooperative Societies J Murali said that the state government has decided to computerise all the 2050 cooperative societies in three phases within a year.
He was participating in the awareness meeting on ‘Computerisation of Cooperative Societies’ organised by the District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB) here on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Murali said that Rs 3 lakh would be earmarked as expenditure to computerise each society in the state. The Centre would bear 60 per cent of the cost and the state would spend 35 per cent, he added. The remaining five per cent money would be spent from the society or bank or from the NABARD funds.
He directed the officials of the cooperative societies to upload all the old records of the societies and cooperative banks online. This would enable the state head office to know how much loan was sanctioned to the farmers in which society. This system would be implemented transparently and will curb the misappropriations, corruption in the utilisation of funds, he added.
District Collector K Bhaskar, who was the chief guest, said that in West Godavari district 265 cooperative societies would be computerised at a cost of Rs 8 crore from April 1 next year in the district.
He said that it has been decided to make the administration in the cooperative sector through computerisation of the cooperative societies and banks from the next financial year that begins from April 1. By June 30, all societies would be equipped with computers, he added.
He suggested the cooperative officials to computerise all the old records and daily based calculations should be uploaded online. The 2016-17 financial year audit report should also be computerized, he suggested.
