Ganja destroyed
Commissioner of Customs DK Srinivas said four tonnes of ganja which was seized by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials in three separate cases, along with 100 kgs of alprazolam, a potent narcotic substance, were disposed of by way of incineration on December 26 by the customs department.
Visakhapatnam: Commissioner of Customs DK Srinivas said four tonnes of ganja which was seized by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials in three separate cases, along with 100 kgs of alprazolam, a potent narcotic substance, were disposed of by way of incineration on December 26 by the customs department.
The narcotic substances were handed over to the customs department for storage /destruction by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials after taking samples and sending them for chemical analysis to establish their identity.
The same were disposed in the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board authorised facility located at Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City. This is the first time such a big haul of narcotic substances were disposed of in Andhra Pradesh, the Commissioner of Customs said.
