The Lepakshi Cotton and Silk Fab Handloom exhibition-cum-sale was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of Sri Padmavathi Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) Prof V Durga Bhavani here on Thursday.

Tirupati: The Lepakshi Cotton and Silk Fab Handloom exhibition-cum-sale was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of Sri Padmavathi Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) Prof V Durga Bhavani here on Thursday.

It was organised by Lepakshi Handicrafts Emporium of AP Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited, Tirumala Branch at Sindhura Kalyanamandapam in Tirupati. Speaking on the occasion Prof Durga Bhavani said, such type of exhibitions showcase our culture and traditions which should be taught to the children also.

Hence, one should not see them as mere exhibition. “Lepakshi Emporium should be appreciated for conducting this type of exhibitions every year. It is important to encourage the artisans and see that their life standards should go up,” the V-C stated.

The exhibition will be kept open daily from 10 am to 9 pm till January 11. Dress materials, door curtains, Hyderabad Pearls, bangles, ornaments and other items are available in the exhibition.
