Inaugurating the drinking water scheme worth Rs 12-crore at Mallavaram road in Gollaprolu, the finance minister said over one-crore problems were complained to toll-free number 1100 of which 60 per cent were not related to finance department. However, only 40 per cent of problems pertain to the finance department were resolved within the budgetary frame work of various departments, he said.
Representations submitted during the next phase of Janmabhoomi commencing from January 2 will be included in the real-time governance.
Referring to local MLA NVSN Varma’s statement on financial position of the state, Yanamala said “The treasury is with me and also the key but there is no money.” Varma said the East Godavari people are fortunate to have Yanamala at the helms of affairs of finance department as he would never say no to allocation of funds.
Commenting on the remark, Yanamala said he too wants to give funds, but the state’s financial position is precarious. So far, the government implemented development works borrowing Rs 20,000 crore. He quoted the instances of sanctioning Rs 1,650 crore to the Purushottapattanam lift-irrigation scheme and Rs 150 crore to the Yeleru canal modernisation. The minister announced release of funds to prevent flooding of Suddagadda reservoir.
Under the ayacut of RRB tank developed by the Maharaja of Pithapuram, the farmers are harvesting two crops a year, he said adding that the people are deeply indebted to the Maharaja.
Addressing DWCRA women and Anganwadi workers, the minister said the government waived Rs 650 crore loans and Rs 14,000 crore crop loans of farmers. Stating the wages of Anganwadi workers have been increased, he advised them to stop hitting roads for protesting for everything.
The MLA said that the drinking water scheme inaugurated by the minister would quench the thirst of people of at least 11 villages.
