Nellore: TDP cadre in various mandals are looking forward for a potential leader, who can coordinate the party in the entire district keeping in view of the upcoming elections. They say there has been no focus on strengthening the cadre where other parties have already geared up such efforts to meet the voters, giving assurances and also coordinating the concerted energies for facing the leaders of the rival group. The party cadre is in a disheartened mood even though the district is having good representation in the cabinet with two Ministers.

But, the Ministers giving priority for strengthening the party in their Assembly constituencies. Municipal Minister Narayana, who took charge as Minister without representing any constituency, is now eying on Nellore city where he is expecting some sort of support from the city residents.

He started visiting the city more frequently by dominating local leaders and politicos for overcoming stumbling blocks in the upcoming elections. Narayana trying to get the attention of the middle class by introducing English medium and foundation courses in schools and Anganwadis in various divisions.

Whereas Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, a senior party leader, is focusing on Sarvepalli Assembly constituency to win the segment in the next elections. He prefers to spend time in city as well in his constituency and surrounding areas. Somireddy, who enjoyed public life as a Minister, MLA and MLC, had recently made his son S Rajagopal Reddy as in-charge of the constituency to look after issues in his absence.

“Even though there are two Ministers and a visiting Minister in the name of in-charge we failed to get even support for resolving local issues. There should be nominated posts to the cadre for meeting the voters for mounting pressure on the administration to speed up development activities,” said a dispirited leader from the Gudur constituency.

The BJP leaders started criticising the ruling party and failure of the TDP district leaders in generating employment for local unemployed youth and resolving the issue of Dugarajapatnam Port. “The district party leaders failed to handle the situation when the BJP is acting as an opposition. The criticism sends adverse message to the party cadre,” said a senior leader from Atmakur constituency.
