The Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) has set up a Command Control Centre (CCC) near municipal park here at a cost of Rs 40 lakh. Chief Minister N Chandrababu will inaugurate the facility soon. The main objective of the centre is to prevent the wastage of water being supplied to city from Mangalam. 

Tirupati: The Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) has set up a Command Control Centre (CCC) near municipal park here at a cost of Rs 40 lakh. Chief Minister N Chandrababu will inaugurate the facility soon. The main objective of the centre is to prevent the wastage of water being supplied to city from Mangalam.

The MCT engineers have set up microchips along the water pipelines and at junction values. Water supply can be monitored on hourly basis by sitting in the CCC with microchips fitted with GPS technology. The staff working at command facility can increase or decrease the water pumping pressure in pipelines through online monitoring system.

Even, the water levels in storage tanks can be measured with the help of CCTV footage and wireless communications. The power supply to temple city can also be supervised from the command centre.

At present, the civic body officials are receiving the grievances from residents through WhatsApp and toll-free helpline number ‘103’. In future, the MCT will provide unique toll-free number and an App for redressal of civic grievances.

Initially, the MCT officials want to use command centre for monitoring only water supply. vBut, the MCT Commissioner Ch Hari Kiran had directed the Corporation officials to make changes in the functioning of the centre keeping future city needs in mind.

At CCC, the civic officials have installed a big screen to view the data, photos and videos of water and power supply. The staff working at CCC will alert the officials concerned when they identify an issue. The MCT will upgrade the CCC as a focal point for receiving all civic complaints.
