Tirupati: District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) Dr S Vijaya Gouri has directed all medical officers of the Primary Health Centres (PHCs) to take steps for administering polio drops to all children below five years of age during the pulse polio programme on January 28 and March 11.

Speaking at a workshop on pulse polio held in Chittoor on Friday, DM&HO said that though no cases of polio were reported as it has been eradicated from the country already, every precaution is being taken as the cases were being reported in neighbouring Pakistan and Bangladesh and it may spread through migrations from those countries.

The medical officers have to prepare a root map not leaving anyone especially in high risk areas. By coordinating with ICDS, school teachers, NGOs, SHGs and DWCRA Groups, the DM&HO directed the officials concerned to ensure 100 percent success of pulse polio programme.

Dr Vijaya Gouri also gave suggestions to the medical officers which they have to follow on January 3 during ‘Our Health – Our Responsibility’ programme under Janmabhoomi. DTCO Dr B Ramesh Babu, PODTT and in-charge DIO Dr A Sudarsan, Dr Sudheer Naik and others have participated.
