Kakinada: Municipal Minister P Narayana said that they were using the latest shear-wall technology in constructing the houses under PMAY (Prime Minister Awaas Yojana) and NTR housing schemes in the state. He along with Deputy Chief Minister Rajappa inspected the progress of the construction of houses at Vaalu Timmapuram village here on Saturday Addressing the beneficiaries in a meeting, the minister informed that about 9 lakh applications were received seeking permanent houses in all the 110 municipalities in the state.

1. Nine lakh houses to be handed over in April
2. Three types of houses 300, 365 and 400 sqft are being constructed for urban poor

Out of which 6.41 lakh houses were sanctioned and the remaining applicants would be sanctioned by April, he added. All the houses were classified into three types -300, 365 and 400 Sqft - according to the necessity of the urban poor. He stated that they were using the latest shear-wall technology in the construction of houses for long lasting and to withstand earthquakes In February a mega housewarming function would be performed for these houses and all the construction work would be completed in April.

He informed that teams from Tamil Nadu and Odisha were coming to study and observe the procedures adopted in constructing the houses The Deputy Chief Minister said that 1750 houses were sanctioned for Peddapuram in the first phase and another thousand more houses would be sanctioned soon.

He informed that there were plans for constructing five thousand houses in the constituency. Later, they visited Samalkota municipality and observed the construction works of the houses. Peddapuram Municipality Chairman Raja Suribabu Raju,Samalkot Municipal Chairman Padmavathi,JC Mallikarjuna,Kakinada Commissioner Siva Parvathi,Municipal RD Sai Srikanth and others accompanied the ministers.
