Atmakur: Temples of Lord Venkateswara in Atmakur, Mahanandi, Srisailam, Velugodu and Bandi Atmakur mandals of Srisailam constituency were teeming with devotees on Friday to mark ‘Vaikuntha Ekadasi’, as it is believed that those having darshan on this holy day will blessed with ‘punya’, as Sun enters the ‘Uttara Dwaram’. Special Vaikuntha Ekadasi poojas were performed in these temples.

It is also believed that on this day Lord Vishnu rode the Garuda Vahanam, along with three crore deities to visit ‘Bulokam’. Hence it is considered holy. To mark the day, Chief Archaka of Venkateswara Devasthanam here Vishnuvardhana Charyulu performed rituals after decorating with flowers the ‘Uttara Dwaram’ for providing darshan to the devotees.

Idols of the deities were tastefully decorated and ‘deepakanthulu’, ‘managala haratulu’, ‘archanalu’, and ‘abhishekalu’ performed, before the devotees had darshan of the Lord along with Godapadmavathi. Meanwhile the ‘Dhanurmasa Vratalu’ which commenced here on December 10 are continuing. Many devotees have participated in the ‘Laksha Vattula Deepotsavasam’. A new ‘rath’ has been provided to the Lord. ‘Radhotsavam’ is being organised here from this year.
