Briefing the media persons at the Mayor’s chamber here on Saturday, he said that the government had sanctioned Rs 461.04 crore for storm water drainage system, Rs. 9.97 crore for the construction of the additional floor on the NTR Shopping Complex and Rs 6 crore for Shadi Khanas construction.

According to him, many infrastructure development works were taken up at the Scheduled Caste Colonies with funds from SC/ST Sub-Plan. In 2016-17, Rs. 18.40 crore was spent and 90 per cent works were completed. Similarly, Rs 18.00 crore would be spent in 2017-2018 and tenders were already called.

He said that Rs. 3.23 crore (2017-2018) was sanctioned for the development of infrastructure in the Scheduled Tribe Colonies.The Mayor said that eighty per cent of the work was completed on Budameru Canal outflow with Rs. 47.52 crore sanctioned for it.
He said that Rs 42 crore was spent for changing pipeline and laying of road near Kanaka Durga flyover which is under construction.

Referring to the renovation work undertaken for Tummalapallivari Kshetraiah Kalakshetram, he said that Rs. 8 crore was spent for it.In all, Rs. 40.40 crore was spent for laying drinking water pipelines in various parts of the city, the Mayor said.

Krishna Lanka service road construction was completed by spending Rs 3.75 crore. Referring to the Swachh Bharat programme undertaken in the city, he said that 1,729 toilets were sanctioned for eligible people in the city. Namma (Mana) toilets were constructed at 17 places in the city with Rs. 2.92 crore.

He said that Rs. 37 lakh was spent for bio-toilets and Rs. 5 crore on solar power scheme.
In the limits of the VMC, 32,500 LED streetlights were installed, through EESL and 750 LED streetlights would be installed in the city suburban. Filtration plant at Gangiredla Dibba was put to use with a capacity of 46 MGD. In all, 4,681 houses were distributed to the beneficiaries and tenders were called for constructing 3,136 new houses.

Sewage treatment plants were constructed at Jakkampudi with a capacity of 20 million litres per day (MLD), at Singh Nagar 20 MLD and at Autonagar 10 MLD. along with four drainage pumping stations. Tenders were called for constructing two sumps at an estimated cost of Rs. 39,88 crore. The Mayor said that smart semi-underground bins were arranged for the safety of public health.

He said that development programmes were taken up in the city with the active participation of self-help groups (Swayam Sahayaka Sangams). In the city 11,862 groups were formed. he said and added that Rs. 16,619 lakh loan was given to 3,786 groups.

Identity cards were given to 2,491 street vendors after identifying them, he said.
Referring to the skill development training undertaken by the VMC, he said that 3,607 candidates were given training.

He said that three shelters were built at Ranigari Thota, Krishna Lanka and Hanumanpet for the urban homeless. Rs 6.4 crore was distributed to 2,49,381 members under Chandranna Bima scheme,. Subsidy was given to 3,701 members from the SC/ST/Kapu/BC/Minority communities, he added.
