Collection of ‘waste charge’ on gold is crime: Prathipati
Civil supplies minister P Pulla Rao on Saturday said the gold merchants should not collect ‘waste charge’ on gold (Tarugu in Telugu) and it is also against the Act. Addressing media here, Pullarao said the merchants were collecting various charges in the name of waste charge and making charges during the gold business transactions.
Visakhapatnam: Civil supplies minister P Pulla Rao on Saturday said the gold merchants should not collect ‘waste charge’ on gold (Tarugu in Telugu) and it is also against the Act. Addressing media here, Pullarao said the merchants were collecting various charges in the name of waste charge and making charges during the gold business transactions.
He said that the department would take campaigns educating people in this regard. It is also a big crime that the collection of value adding charges on the gold, the minister added. Talking about food items, water bottles and cool drinks being sold on high prices at Inox, multiplex movie theatres and shopping malls, he said the department had already issued a stringent instructions and licenses would be cancelled on the violators from January 1.
The managements should sell the items on MRP only, he added. Talking about the “Chandranna Sankranti Kanuka”, the minister said that 1.42 gifts being supplied across the state. If, the distributor supplied less quality of items, his/her name would be black listed, he added.
If, the fair price shop dealers supply the commodities sincerely and honestly, the government is ready to increase their commission, the minister said. In the first phase of Chandranna Village Malls project, the department is making arrangements to set up as many as 6,500 malls across the state.
As per the government decision, 10 districts have been allocated to Reliance and three districtswere allocated to Features Group to set up the Chandranna Village Malls, the minister said.
