As many as 470 young aspiring entrepreneurs of Jagriti Yatra arrived here as part of their nationwide industrial study tour. The Jagriti Yatra delegates paid a visit to Akshaya Patra Kitchen which is running the world’s largest school meal programme and serving food to over million children in 13,529 schools in the district. 

Visakhapatnam: As many as 470 young aspiring entrepreneurs of Jagriti Yatra arrived here as part of their nationwide industrial study tour. The Jagriti Yatra delegates paid a visit to Akshaya Patra Kitchen which is running the world’s largest school meal programme and serving food to over million children in 13,529 schools in the district.

The delegates witnessed the centralised semi-automated kitchen which prepares and distributes food to 25,000 beneficiaries daily in Visakhapatnam.

On the occasion, Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa, President, Akshaya Patra Foundation, Hyderabad, and Niskinchana Bhaktadasa, Visakhapatnam President, explained about mid-day-meal programme to the delegates. The team congratulated the Akshaya Patra team on their selfless service.

Jagriti Yatra, an NGO, inspires and enables youth from small towns and villages of the country to ‘build India through enterprise’. This is their flagship programme, which involves a 15- day, 8,000 km nation-wide journey taking selected youth entrepreneurs to meet the role model social and business entrepreneurs.

Jagriti Yatra attracts 17,000 registrations every year of which 470 of the best were selected for the journey.

Since, the first yatra in 2008, over 300 new enterprises have been set up within the yatra fraternity and many more are being developed. This year they have selected 11 locations to meet and learn from exceptional change-makers, who are transforming India, such as Akshaya Patra Foundation (Visakhapatnam), Aravind Eye care (Madurai), Narayana Murthy (Infosys), Royal Enfield (Chennai), SELCO (Hubli-Dharwad) and others.
