Tirupati: Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) has presented the Swachh Survekshan awards to city hospitals, schools and residential colonies for employing better solid waste management practices.

Tirupati MLA Suguna participated in the award function held here on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that the city’s brand image will improve if it is clean. She stated that the civic officials are improving the sanitary conditions in temple city to get first rank in the ensuing national-level Swachh Survekshan survey.

MCT Commissioner Ch Hari Kiran has informed the gathering that the civic body has conducted the competitions for hospitals, hotels and schools for improving sanitation in the city. He gave a call to residents to follow the scientific methods in segregation of waste.

Later, the Corporation Commissioner and MLA have distributed the hand gloves, shoes and other safety material to civic body’s public health department employees. Manohari and Ramadevi hospitals, Bliss hotel, Korlagunta and Singalgunta municipal schools have received the best sanitation practice awards.

Additional Commissioner Sridevi, Deputy Commissioner Balaswamy and other officials were present.
